It's was such a joy to see the thousands of toys come through our doors during the holidays.  It showed the love and concern our community has for the children of our struggling neighbors.  Nobody wants to think of child not receiving gifts on Christmas morning and so the toys poured in.

But what about the child whose parents can't afford a birthday gift?  Not getting a gift for your birthday hurts just as much as not getting anything for Christmas.  As a parent I couldn't imagine not having the means to celebrate my child's birthday.

In the past if a parent came to us with a need for a birthday present we would dig through the boxed up, left over Christmas toys to find one.  This is not an easy task as all the left over toys are packed up and stored for the following Holiday Tent.

After giving it a lot of consideration we feel that providing birthday presents for underprivileged children is a ministry in itself and we are now in the process of starting a "Birthday Club" where we'll have toys on the shelves all year long.  Families in crisis who have been pre-screened and registered will have the opportunity to choose birthday gifts for their children.

This will involve remodeling one of our offices and hopefully we will be up and running in the next month or so.

The materials that are needed are:
A couple gallons of paint
3-4 shelving units
If you can help supply any of these materials or would like to volunteer to be a part of this ministry please email Paula at: tt.thestreets@gmail.com

Thanks for all you do
